Funktion One
Funktion One are English inventors and manufacturers of professional loudspeaker systems. Funktion One, founded in 1992 by Tony Andrews and John Newsham, are highly regarded designers and manufacturers of high quality point source loudspeaker systems, with numerous patents to their name. Tony and John, who were also responsible for founding Turbosound in the 1970's, are accredited with several generations of revolutionary loudspeaker designs including the TMS-3, Flashlight and Floodlight systems. They are widely known for their pioneering work and ethos which established many of the principles which subsequently became industry standard within audio. Whilst often imitated, their designs have not been surpassed and have been the first choice of many permanent and touring sound applications around the world.

Sound Services Ltd use only the best audio equipment, in every aspect of our work. We operate as part of the Funktion One rental network, giving us unique access to the incredible experience and equipment produced by Tony and John and the team. From new products such as the Res 3's and the Res 1.5TTs (which we have recently installed in a venue in Kings Cross: The Star Of Kings) to established and proven models such as Res 4's and Res 2's. We offer a full range of solutions from install to one off shows and events. We currently have Res 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's as well as the new RM18 tri-concentric stage wedge and F218mk2 subs as well as F121 subs, so can provide a bespoke sound system for a small party or a large festival. Achieving the best possible audio quality is the principle motivating factor at Funktion One. In their designs they continually focus on maximising efficiency (conversion of amplifier power into acoustic energy) as this tends to produce alive and responsive sound. It also means that less electrical power is required for a given acoustic output making F1 Resolution systems more energy efficient compared to alternatives.
Funktion One are intent on sonic accuracy and our technological approach avoids the use of both system EQ (with its inherent phase and headroom problems) and compression driver mid-range (with its inherent harshness and distortion). Our loudspeaker systems also have excellent directional control allowing sound to be focused where it’s needed and minimising out-of venue environmental impact.This is why we use their products in our hire inventory.
